CMC Invest is the investment platform by the very large, and well established financial company CMC Markets.

You can open a general investment account, an ISA and/or a pension, and invest in a wide range of investments, all commission-free. You’ll pay a monthly fee for your account instead (other fees can apply).

There’s also a Cash ISA with a great savings rate, which is free to open.

CMC Invest is pretty great, there’s a wide range of investment options, including investment funds (ETFs and mutual funds), and a wide range of stocks and shares from the UK and US.

Instead of paying a percentage of your investments for your account (like with many traditional stock brokers), you’ll pay a fixed monthly fee, depending on which accounts you’d like to invest in (e.g. an ISA or pension).

Investing is commission-free, so there’s no fee each time you buy and sell, and there’s a low currency conversion fee when buying foreign stocks (0.50%). Other fees can apply.

You can also hold multiple currencies (USD and EUR) to reduce the currency conversion costs too (only available in the general investment account).

The website and app itself is great to use, and feels modern, and there’s features to help you invest better, such as for stock research, and includes filters for ESG (socially responsible) investing.
