You can then set a budget and any financial goals, such as a holiday this year, or even a big purchase like a house, and it will track your progress and help you on your way.

Over the years, it’s become much more than a budgeting app, and you can even send and receive money from your friends (such as those big nights out).

You’ll also be able to earn interest on the money you save (with a high interest rate), or you can invest it if you like.

Your rent payments will also be reported to credit reference agencies, so all those rent payments will help build your credit score – and hopefully help you buy a house and get a mortgage when the time comes. This is a really great feature.

We think Emma is great – and it’s made the top of our best budgeting apps. It’s super easy to use, and really does help you save more money, by focusing you on what matters and your future financial goals.

The technology to analyse your budget and spending is great, and much easier than pen and paper. And if you’re renting and looking to build your credit score, it’s worth it just for that feature.
